JEANS STYLE GUIDE - How to choose the perfect pair of maternity jeans.
This information is to help you to make an informed decision on which maternity jeans to buy for your style/shape. As with all maternity fittings, it is usually best to stay with your regular Australian size unless indicated otherwise in the product description. Maternity manufacturers make the garment fit to suit a pregnant body, so a size 12 maternity is made for a person who would normally be a size 12. (The maternity size 12 is usually bigger that a normal size 12). So, generally, if you choose the larger size you may find them too big in the bottom and thighs, and will be constantly pulling them up. The jeans may feel a little snug at first but remember that the denim will give with each wear and wash. Also an important care factor - to retain the longevity of any maternity jeans with stretch panels please remember to pull them up by the denim only, not the fabric panel which is delicate !! Please email or call (1300768608 ) us if you have any queries about any denim items. ALL OUR DENIMS ARE STRETCH DENIM.
There are 4 different styles of waist band treatment:
1. All around band
These jeans have a supportive stretch all round elastic waistband, which is either made with wide elastic enclosed in stretch lycra fabric or a wide soft band of the stretch lycra jersey fabric. The waistband with the elastic sits underbelly as you get bigger, and the soft band can either be worn up over the tummy or foded and worn under tummy.
The wide supportive all-round waistbands are extremely comfortable to wear (and no having to hitch your jeans up every time you sit down as you will find happens with most low waisted hipster styles). The band is great for after baby's birth as it holds your tummy in without being overly tight - just what stylish mamas need....!
The PA12 denim shorts have the wide elastic band all round and the elastic is able to be pulled in or let out.
The P521 jean has the soft foldable jersey band.
2. Band in the Front
The P583 denim capris and P583s shorts have the wide elastic band only in the front and the back has normal jeans band with belt loops and an adjustable buttonhole elastic inside that can be pulled in or out to suit. This is one of the most popular styles. The denim is high quality and super comfy. The back just looks like your regular jeans it's an award wining design and fabric lifts & shapes your bottom.
3. Side Panel Jeans.
These jeans have side stretch panels that expand with your tummy - from the back they look just like your regular jeans.
Great for the ladies who can't take a lot of pressure on their belly. These styles don't scream 'maternity' jeans and can easily be worn if not pregnant. They have all the features of your normal jeans including front button up faux fly and worn with a belt after baby's birth, no one can tell their maternity! Seraphine jeans PS skinny and PS white maternity jeans both have this feature. The denim is high quality and super comfy. The back just looks like your regular jeans it's award wining design and fabric is renowned to lift & shape your bottom. These are low waisted hipster jeans and the back sits quite low so if you are used to wearing hipster styles then you will LOVE these.
4. No Panel Jeans
The P380 hipster jeans have no panels, are designed to sit under and around tummy. Belt loops allow your normal hip belt to be used. The inside of the waistband has an adjustable buttonhole elastic that goes from the side front all around and so you can make it as tight or loose as you prefer. These are the most ‘normal' of the maternity jeans and are great for wearing before, during and after pregnancy. These are low waisted hipster jeans and the back sits quite low so if you are used to wearing hipster styles then you will LOVE these.
